 Commemorative Coins to Be Minted in DPRK


Commemorative coins will be minted in the DPRK on the occasion of the 110th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung.

A relevant decree of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK was issued on April 13.

The commemorative coins named "The 110th Birth Anniversary of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" will be minted into gold and silver ones.

Traced out in the centre of the front of each golden and silver coins is the smiling image of the President, on the upper part of the fringe the letters "The 110th Birth Anniversary of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung" and on both sides of the bottom the figures of years "1912" and "2022" as well as a magnolia blossom.

Traced out in the centre of the back is the President's birthplace at Mangyongdae, on the upper part of the fringe the letters "The Central Bank of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and on the bottom the figures implying the fineness, weight and minting year.

The size of the pure-gold coin is 35 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness and that of the pure-silver coin is 40 mm in diameter and 3 mm in thickness.
