Seminar Held in Serbia to Mark Centenary of Down-with-Imperialism Union

A commemorative seminar dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU) by President Kim Il Sung was organized by the Serbian National Committee on the Study of the Juche Idea.

The seminar was devoted to highlighting the historic significance of the formation of the DIU on October 17, 1926, and the immortal revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung, who opened a new chapter in the Korean people's struggle for national liberation, independence and socialism.

The seminar particularly emphasized that the formation of the DIU constituted an event of profound historical importance in the development of the Korean revolution, marking the beginning of a new era of revolutionary struggle based on independence, anti-imperialism and reliance on the strength of the popular masses.

At a time when the Korean people were suffering under the brutal colonial domination of Japanese imperialism, the young Kim Il Sung embarked upon the road of revolutionary struggle with the firm determination to liberate his country and secure the freedom and dignity of his people.

Rejecting dependence on foreign forces and recognizing the decisive role of the masses in shaping their own destiny, he advanced the revolutionary principle that the liberation of a nation must be achieved through the independent efforts of its own people.

The founding of the Down-with-Imperialism Union represented the embodiment of this revolutionary conviction.

The immediate task of the DIU was to overthrow Japanese imperialist domination and achieve the national independence of Korea, while its ultimate objective was to build a socialist and communist society and contribute to the worldwide struggle against imperialism.

The seminar highlighted the revolutionary traditions associated with the DIU and their historical connection with the subsequent development of the Korean revolution and the principles of the Juche idea.

Special attention was paid to the revolutionary career of President Kim Il Sung, whose anti-Japanese struggle and leadership in the building of socialist Korea occupy a central place in the history of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The centenary of the DIU was also regarded as an important occasion to reaffirm the significance of national sovereignty, independence, self-reliance and solidarity among peoples struggling against domination, interference and imperialism.

The historic experience of the Korean revolution demonstrates the importance of defending the right of every nation to determine its own destiny independently, free from external pressure and foreign domination.

The Serbian National Committee on the Study of the Juche Idea attaches great importance to studying and disseminating the revolutionary ideas and historical legacy of President Kim Il Sung and to promoting understanding of the Juche idea and the independent development of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

The seminar marking the centenary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union constituted a meaningful contribution to commemorating this historic anniversary and to strengthening the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the Serbian and Korean peoples.
